La Petite Bete, based in Montclair is offering a great selection of books in french for children of all ages (0 to 16 years old). Many of these books might appeal to adults as well. Every month, on a given day, you are invited throughout the day to browse at the books available for sale. If you are unable to come on these given dates, you can schedule an appointment by e-mailing to annesophi@hotmail.com or calling (973) 303 2589. To receive a special invitation every month, please forward your e-mail address to annesophi@hotmail.com. La Petite Bete is also a traveling library and will participate to private and public events. Books are classified by ages. Young adults and adults who are learning french should look at the "all age" category. Every month, a new theme and a new author/illustrator will be featured.If the selection offered does not meet your need, order for specific books or suggestions based on a given theme and age group can also be made for free. In fact, any requests, comments, questions, suggestions and reviews -positive or negative- of books purchased at La Petite Bete, can be submitted anytime by sending an e-mail to annesophi@hotmail.com.
Personal recommendations, pre-orders, gift certificates are available and free of charge.
La Petite Bete wants to offer a selection of books really great, really different that you won't find in the US and that will bring your kids' imagination to a whole new level, all that while learning french! I am hoping that adults will also have a terrific time selecting books for their kids, their friends or for themselves.
About the prices: they are as low as possible and if they can still appear high, I apologize, but that's the best I can do. Note that they are often the same price as the french prices or slightly higher.They varied according to the provenance of the books (various distributors and publishing houses in France and Canada). NJ tax must be added to the prices indicated.
But think of it that way: each book is not only an invaluable learning tool, and a way to be entertained and develop the imagination, but is also work of art that you and your kids might want to keep to pass on to your grand children.
